Markets rarely fail to respond because an organisation lacks a strategy document. More often, the gap is between what looks attractive on paper and what customers, channels, partners and teams can actually execute. The questions below are designed to make that gap visible early.
1. Demand readiness
A pilot can prove technical performance without proving willingness to adopt or pay. Commercial readiness requires evidence that a defined customer segment values the solution enough to change behaviour, allocate budget or influence a purchasing decision.
2. Proposition readiness
The market must understand what the solution does, for whom and why it is preferable to the current alternative. Positioning should be simple enough for customers and channel partners to repeat without relying on the product team to explain it every time.
3. Economic readiness
Test whether pricing, cost to serve, channel margins, support requirements and payment terms can produce a sustainable model. If every sale requires exceptional subsidy, founder involvement or bespoke implementation, scale may increase activity without improving commercial viability.
4. Channel readiness
Identify who can repeatedly reach, sell, implement or support the solution. Determine what those partners need in order to participate: margin, training, tools, inventory, technical support, financing or customer demand.
5. Evidence readiness
Different stakeholders require different proof. Customers may need demonstrations or references; distributors may need evidence of demand; investors may need unit economics; development partners may need adoption or impact evidence. Organise the evidence around the decision each stakeholder needs to make.
6. Execution readiness
Scaling introduces coordination challenges: forecasting, partner management, customer support, training, reporting, quality control and market feedback. A commercialization plan should define who owns these activities and which systems must exist before expansion.
